IMPACT

Serving Communities
Across West Virginia

The West Virginia Food is Medicine Coalition is spearheading efforts to embed nutrition into healthcare practices. Currently, programs operate in more than 70% of the state—40 of West Virginia’s 55 counties—through 96 active sites. This network is made possible by the collaboration of nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, and academic partners, all working together toward a single goal: advancing health through better nutrition.

Food is Medicine
Across West Virginia

In 2024, between 3,200 and 4,000 West Virginians benefited from Food is Medicine programs. These initiatives reach individuals across 40 counties through 96 community sites, with a focus on supporting those facing food insecurity and managing diet-sensitive conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. By meeting people where they are, the coalition ensures healthier food access for populations who need it most.
