We’re excited to share that the West Virginia Food is Medicine Coalition’s recent gathering at Stonewall Resort was featured in WV News, highlighting the growing momentum behind using nutrition as a powerful tool for better health across the state.
The event brought together health leaders, providers, foundations, and community partners to focus on one shared mission: making healthy food more accessible for West Virginians and improving long-term health outcomes through “Food is Medicine” initiatives.
As reported by WV News, speakers emphasized how nutrition plays a critical role in preventing chronic disease and reducing healthcare costs. Research shared during the event showed that programs like medically tailored meals and produce prescriptions could prevent hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and save billions in healthcare spending nationwide.
“Nutrition is the foundation for health. The choices we make at the table impact our communities, our families and our futures.”
